Cardiff @ Chelsea Flower Show, Captain Scott Centenary Garden
Design ⁄ Event ⁄ Print Procurement
On the 15th June 1910, The ‘British Antarctic Expedition, 1910’, led by Captain Robert Falcon Scott, CVO, RN, made its final departure from Cardiff, leaving the United Kingdom for the journey South in the expedition vessel, SS Terra Nova, RYS.
To commemorate the centenary of this event and further promote and communicate the City of Cardiff, Celf was commissioned by Cardiff Council to design a courtyard garden to be entered at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
With a theme centred around polar map we devised a central steel structure made
locally at Cardiff Docks, together with engraved Welsh slate and radiating borders boarders bedded with Welsh Coal.
Working in conjunction with the City Parks Department we achieved a Silver Guilt Medal.
