Photography & Video Production

We use digital photography and video to capture real life, in-situ scenes, and as an alternative approach to 2D/3D design for depicting products and concepts.

Everything from stills to talking-head interviews and short promotional films for a variety of events, campaigns and cross-platform uses.

As part of the complete end-to-end process, we provide all the necessary pre and post-production services.

How much does video production cost?

The cost of video production can vary widely depending on the length of the video, the quality and complexity of the production, the location and equipment required, the type and number of professionals involved, and the necessary skills of the production team.

Some of the factors to consider when budgeting for video production include:

  • Original versus stock footage
  • Location costs, including venue or studio hire
  • Filming and sound recording equipment necessary for the shots required
  • Licensing costs for music and other copyrighted materials
  • Actors and voice artists
  • Pre-production tasks including scripts, storyboards and production management
  • Post production (i.e. editing, special effects, etc.)

Discuss your budget and requirements with one of the Celf team so we can provide you with an estimate.

How much does commercial photography cost?

Like video production, the cost of commercial photography varies depending on a number of factors. These include:

  • The type of photography required (e.g. product photography, event photography, corporate headshots, etc.)
  • The duration of the shoot, which may itself depend on various factors like the number, complexity and
variety of shots required and even the prevailing weather conditions (if an external shoot)
  • The location of the shoot, principally in relation to travel time and expenses
  • The necessary photographic equipment, which may include special lenses, filters, lighting rigs,
waterproofing or – in the case of aerial shots – drone or helicopter-related costs
  • The experience and expertise of the photographer (some assignments are suitable for a junior photographer whereas we may recommend specialists in architectural photography, product photography, photojournalism, etc.
  • Any necessary post-production i.e. cropping, retouching, etc.

How long does video production take?

The factors affecting timescales for video production are similar to those that impact upon costs. Clearly, a smaller and simpler project will take less time to undertake from beginning to end than a large, complex project.

‘Video production’ is actually composed of three sequential phases, each of which consumes a necessary amount of time before the following phase can begin.

Phase 1 is pre-production, which encompasses the agreement of the brief, initial concept development, scripting, storyboarding, location scouting, and organisation of any other required elements like actors/voice talent and licensed media. Pre-production can be very swift, or it can be delayed by unforeseen events like the unavailability of interviewees. Again, the likelihood is for the length of pre-production to be consistent with the complexity and number of moving parts involved.

Phase 2 is the production ‘proper’. This puts the preliminary work of phase 1 into operation and entails the filming of all primary and b-roll footage, and the development of associated materials (such as music, sound effects, graphics and animations) to accompany it. Good production planning, undertaken during the pre-production phase, ensures that this phase runs to expected timelines.

The third and final phase (Phase 3) is post-production. Post-production can begin while production is still ongoing, though typically they will happen consecutively so that all final ‘raw’ materials are available. Post-production revolves around the editing process, bringing the final piece together in line with the original vision and storyboard.
